Good Morning,  did you think I had dropped off the face of the earth?  It has been awhile!  But all is well and let's get ready for fall with new fabrics, new patterns and some new events.

Janet Henshawe

Janet will be at the shop tomorrow from 11 to 12.  If she has a quilt ready for you, she has probably already contacted you.  I read her email this morning and she is working very hard to get your quilting done, but she is asking that if you need a quilt done for a Christmas gift to please have it to her by the end of September!  I know I am sending a quilt with her tomorrow that is a Christmas gift.

If you do not have your project ready but think you will by the end of the September, I don't mind making a trip to Connellsville to take Janet your quilt.  Just let me know.

Jeff's Sewing Station

Jeff will be at the shop this Friday, September 17 to pick up and deliver machines.  Remember if you want to send your machine have it to me by Thursday as I am never sure what time Jeff will be at the shop.

If he is returning your machine, I will call you as soon as he leaves so you can pick up your machine!  I want you to consider getting your machine cleaned after the holidays, especially if you are sewing on yours as much as we are sewing on ours at the shop.

Beaver Valley Piecemakers Quilt Show

Man oh man I have been waiting to tell you about a quilt show.  We have not been to one in a long time.  This quilt show is Thursday, October 7; Friday, October 8 and Saturday, October 9.  The hours on Thursday and Friday are 10-5 and Saturday 10-4.  They will be sending me more information about the location and additional information soon.  I will keep you posted.  I know this might be a little drive for all of you, but I think it will be fun to see what quilters outside of our area are working on.

Quilt Classes!!!

I know so many of you have been asking me when I was going to start my Saturday workshop days again.  Well, here we go!  I shall be started with a Sit and Sew in September (please notice the alliteration--cannot take the English teacher out of this quilter) and then I will be teaching the Carpenter's Wheel in October.   Here are the details.

Sit and Sew in September

Let's ease into the Saturday Workshops with a Sit and Sew!  We shall once again be meeting at the Rogersville United Methodist Fellowship Hall in Rogersville.  If you have attended the workshops here you know that you have plenty of room to work.
Saturday, September 25, 2021
10 to 3
Class fee  $15.00

To Welcome you back Tessie will be making you a Goody Bag with all kinds are free things!  I will have some demos for you also for things that will make quick and easy gifts for the holiday season.

You can register on the website or stop in and register.  If you register on the website, you may be charged tax.  I will refund the tax at class.

Carpenter's Wheel

The only thing I am sharing with you at this time is the date of Saturday, October 23.  I am working on my sample now and hope to share more information with you next week.  I think you will like this pattern.

Remember everything you purchase at the shop for your class is discounted to you 20%

Here is what we are working on....

We received "Woolen Flannel" from Riley Blake a couple of weeks ago.  This flannel does have the look of wool but it is soooo soft.  There is a free pattern available on Riley Blake's website.  It is called Happy Trails.

Karen is now working on this pattern and we have kits cut and available for $89.99.  The pattern is included.  ( I did make a couple of changes in the pattern and have those suggestions ready for you.)

She started with the fabric

and then cut the 10" stacker

then the block was constructed

blocks turned into rows

a few more rows and borders and the quilt top will be done.

There are only 5 - 10" stackers left so if you would like this kit, please let me know by calling me or emailing me.  This kit is NOT on the web-site at this time.

I thought you might like this...

The 10 Commandments of Sewing by Rhonda Watson (first printed in Sew News magazine)

1.  Thou shalt put away no ironing board before its time.
2.  Thou shalt not expect meals, clean laundry or a sparkling house when sewing calls.
3.  Thou shalt walk through this room as if treading on needles and pins.
4.  Thou shalt not use my fabric shears.
5.  Thou shalt not covet my sewing machine.
6.  Thou shalt stick no unthreaded needles in the pincushion.
7.  Thou shalt always remember a stitch in time saves nine.
8.  Thou shalt not touch my organized mess.
 9.  Thou shalt remember that each item sewn is stitched with love and care.
10.  Thou shalt praise God often for all creative talents.

Hope to see you soon but until then..

Have a Sew-Sew Week.
