News From The Pine Tree

Happy New Year!

Sit back, get a cup of coffee or tea because I have much to tell you!

First of all the phone at the shop is not working and I until I get a new one please call or text me on my cell.  If I don't, answer right away leave a message and I will return your call.

DATES TO REMEMBER!

Janet Henshawe will be at the shop on Tuesday, January 12 at 11 to pick up/ deliver quilts to be long armed.  She will keep this schedule of the second Tuesday of each month at 11 for the Pine Tree.  I will add it to my calendar on the web-site.

Jeff of Jeff's Sewing Station does have a date change in January.  He will be at the shop on Friday, January 8 to pick up any machine that needs a "spa day".  The next date in January will be Friday, January 22.  Remember to bring in your machine before the scheduled Friday because I do not always know what time Jeff will be there to pick up your machine.  In February he will begin his regular schedule for my shop of the 1st and 3rd Friday.  I shall also post his schedule on the calendar on my website.

Jeff also sent me an email that he has acquired several used Pfaff sewing machines.  All are made in Germany and some of the models have dual feed.  Please go to his web-site at www.jeffssewingstation.com and check out the machines he has posted.  If you are interested call Jeff directly.

FREE PATTERN

Something new I am starting this year is a free pattern each month.  This month the pattern is "Hearts four you, my friend..."  It is a cute, quick "fabric Valentine" that measures 20" x 20".  Make one for yourself and one for each of your friends.  Color options are endless.  The square is pieced with some applique.  (I am going to use Heat-n-Bond for my applique!)

In fact, as Karen and I looked at this pattern, we decided that you could use this for many holidays.  Replace the hearts with stars, with autumn leaves, with shamrocks, with Easter eggs and the list goes on.  So..... I decided to have some fun with this by challenging you with a contest.  

CONTEST

Get January's free pattern and make the square!  There will be two (2) categories.  The first category will be to make the pattern with the Valentine hearts.  The second category will be to adapt the pattern to another holiday or time of the year.  The color choices are all yours but think about going through your stash.  Three (3) prizes will be offered in each category:  1st -  $15.00 GC to the Pine Tree; 2nd - $10.00 GC and 3rd -  $5.00 GC.  Your 20" x 20" square must be quilted and bound.  Take a picture and email to me at ljanejo@windstream.net or better yet bring it into the shop and we will display it.  I will post the samples on Facebook so customers/ friends can vote for their favorite.  All entries need to me in by...Valentine's Day of course.  This is Sunday, February 14.  Let's have some fun with this.

This is the pattern Karen is using with this fabric line.  I particularly like the pieced border.  The only fabric I did not order in this line was the black, but we were able to find a black at the shop that is perfect.  I have labeled the yardage that is in the pattern Framework.  I will be happy to Kit this for you!  Kit 1 will contain the panel, yardage and pattern for $78.99.  Kit 2 will contain the panel, yardage, pattern, and backing for $115.99.  Call me at the shop if you are interested in a kit.
