Well, dear friends, can anyone really believe the Pine Tree Quilt Shop has been open 10 years! Some days I would say it doesn't seem like that long and there are other days it seems like a life time.
I still remember the day we opened. The shop was filled with familiar faces wishing me good luck and wanting to join me in the excitement of this new venture. That day also opened me to so many new friendships that have just grown throughout the years. You all have truly blessed my life. You are with me through the good days and the sad days.
A friend ask me how I would feel if I had to close after my first year and I answered him that I would have seen one of my dreams realized. I also remember the second time my mother was getting rehab at Rolling Meadows and they told me they wanted her to stay longer because she was a fall risk and that since I had my own business and couldn't be home with her they thought she would be safer with them. I told them that I would then close the quilt shop and take care of her at home. I can remember so well going back to her room and she said, "I am telling you, Linda Jane, you are not going to close your shop. I will be just fine at home and one of these days when I am not with you, the shop and your friends will see you through." And she was right!
